Wagner Iovanna Studio Performances (WISP), founded by husband and wife team Karen Wagner and Robert Iovanna, is a non-profit 501(c)(3) theatre education program providing Broadway-caliber training through performance to people of all ages and skill levels along the Connecticut shoreline.

Our goal is for every participant to not only grow artistically but to grow in confidence and self-worth while developing a deeper love and appreciation for the arts and it’s positive effect on the community.

Our approach is what makes us different from other theatre companies. We offer a platform for those wanting a career in the performing arts to gain much needed exposure, experience and the necessary direction through the rehearsal/performance process, workshops with industry professionals and casting agents and managers.

We are a “family” and always welcome theatre lovers of all ages to take part in WISP productions whether on or off stage. If you are interested in volunteering or becoming a sponsor/donor, please contact us.

Our Team

Karen Wagner-Iovanna

Karen Wagner is a professional singer/actress and vocal instructor. As a Boston Conservatory and Northeast Bible Institute alumnus, some of Karen’s professional theatrical credits include Eva Peron in Evita, Rowena in Biloxi Blues, Lady Thiang in The King and I, the Narrator in Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat and Leisl in The Sound of Music. Karen’s love for the theatre has inspired her to develop and perform her one-woman show, Karen Wagner’s Broadway Cabaret Experience.

Karen has been the lead singer for many Boston- and Connecticut-based bands, including Route 66, a 1940’s singing group and currently performs throughout the country as a soloist and with her husband, classical tenor, Robert Iovanna. Karen is the guest voice teacher on WPLR’s Chaz and Ajay in the Morning and has been the guest host for the nationally syndicated Joe Mazza Radio Show. She has also done voice overs, print modeling, music videos and commercials.

As a vocal instructor for over twenty years, Karen has owned vocal studios in both Connecticut and Boston. Many of her students have gone on to careers in the music industry, on Broadway and in film/TV. She has taught acting, audition and speech workshops out of Cameo Kids, a Boston-based children’s talent agency, and given many vocal seminars at various national competitions.

She has recorded two CD’s, Karen Wagner Sings Broadway and Hands Up, which can be heard currently on contemporary Christian radio.

Karen and her husband are the Connecticut area directors for Talent America, the nation’s longest running national talent industry showcase. They have established and run a not-for-profit theatre company (WISP Performances), sharing their passion for the performing arts with people of all ages.
